Opening The Lab: The Experiment Begins

It all begins with an idea.

Most people think alignment feels good. Like it’s this smooth, effortless flow where everything just clicks into place. But I’ve realized something. Alignment isn’t always peaceful. Sometimes it feels like resistance. Like tension. Like your entire body tightening up because deep down, you know things are shifting, and part of you is terrified to let go.

I’ve been here more times than I can count. Standing at the edge of a decision, knowing exactly what I need to do, but feeling every excuse, every hesitation, every old version of myself clawing to stay in control. And I used to take that as a sign that maybe I was wrong. That maybe I wasn’t ready. That if this was really the right path, it wouldn’t feel so uncomfortable.

But that’s not how transformation works.

Alignment isn’t just about ease. It’s about truth. And sometimes, truth is hard to hold. It challenges everything you thought you knew. It forces you to release patterns that kept you safe. It strips away the illusions and leaves you with nothing but yourself and the next right step.

So how do you know if you’re actually misaligned or if you’re just fighting the very thing you asked for?

You get still. You listen. Not to your mind running through every possible outcome, but to the part of you that already knows. The part that feels the pull. The part that lights up even when it’s scared.

What is Alignment, Really?

Alignment isn’t just about feeling good in the moment. It’s about being in sync with truth across three layers of reality: internal signals, external feedback, and the karmic and energetic layer.

  1. Internal Signals
    This is your body and intuition speaking to you. It’s the gut feeling, the spark of excitement, the way your energy either expands or contracts when you think about a decision. But it’s also the nervous system, the subconscious conditioning, the protective instincts that sometimes confuse safety with stagnation. True alignment isn’t just about what feels good immediately. It’s about what resonates beyond your fears.

  2. External Feedback
    This is what your life is reflecting back to you. Are things flowing, or are you hitting wall after wall? Are opportunities showing up, or does every step forward feel like wading through quicksand? Sometimes resistance is just part of the process, but other times, it’s a signal that something needs to shift. The key is knowing the difference. Alignment doesn’t mean everything is easy, but it does mean there’s movement.

  3. The Karmic & Energetic Layer
    This is the bigger picture. The unseen forces shaping your reality, the patterns that keep showing up, the deep cycles of cause and effect playing out in ways you can’t always see. Sometimes you’re feeling resistance because you’re breaking out of an old karmic loop. Other times, you’re being redirected to something that fits your path better. This is where trust comes in. If you’re doing the work, staying open, and listening, life is moving you exactly where you need to go.

Real alignment happens when all three layers are in sync. When your internal world, your external reality, and the deeper energetic patterns are all pointing in the same direction. And when they’re not? That’s where the work is.

The Practice: Testing Your Alignment Across the Three Layers

This practice will help you cut through the noise and measure your alignment in a tangible way. It combines nervous system regulation, cognitive clarity, and energetic feedback so you can tell whether you’re truly aligned or just avoiding what needs to happen.

Step 1: Regulate Your Nervous System

Before you do anything, you need to clear out emotional noise. Fear, doubt, and overthinking distort your perception, making it hard to tell what’s real alignment and what’s just old programming.

  • Find a quiet space where you won’t be interrupted.

  • Close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose for four counts. Hold for four counts. Exhale slowly through your mouth for six counts.

  • Repeat until you feel a shift. Your body should feel more open, your mind quieter, your breath deeper. This signals that you’re moving out of survival mode and into a state where you can access deeper knowing.

Step 2: Ask & Score Your Alignment

Once your body is calm, ask yourself:

"If I stopped letting fear make my decisions, what would I do next?"

Then run that answer through the three layers of reality. Each layer is scored from -3 to +3, giving you a measurable way to see where you stand.

Internal Signals (Body & Intuition)

  • +3: I feel light, open, or excited when I think about this choice.

  • +2: I feel neutral but steady, like this makes sense.

  • +1: I feel nervous but still drawn toward it.

  • 0: I feel nothing. No pull, no reaction.

  • -1: I feel uneasy but unsure why.

  • -2: I feel physically uncomfortable, tense, or resistant.

  • -3: I feel a deep "no" or dread in my body.

External Feedback (Life’s Response)

  • +3: Everything is aligning. Opportunities, synchronicities, and confirmations are showing up.

  • +2: There’s movement, even if it’s slow. Doors are opening.

  • +1: No major obstacles, just neutral progress.

  • 0: No clear feedback from the outside world.

  • -1: I keep running into small challenges and delays.

  • -2: Repeated obstacles, rejections, or clear pushback.

  • -3: Every sign and external cue is saying no.

Karmic & Energetic Layer (Patterns & Bigger Picture)

  • +3: This choice breaks an old cycle and feels like a higher path.

  • +2: This aligns with the lessons I’m working through.

  • +1: No major karmic weight, just a neutral next step.

  • 0: I can’t tell if this fits my deeper path or not.

  • -1: This feels familiar in a bad way, like I’m repeating an old mistake.

  • -2: I recognize this pattern, and I know it leads nowhere good.

  • -3: This is a karmic trap. I feel pulled in but know it’s the wrong choice.

Step 3: Interpret Your Score

  • +6 to +9: You are in alignment. Move forward.

  • +3 to +5: Mostly aligned, but something needs adjustment. Check for fear-based hesitation.

  • 0 to +2: You are in neutral territory. Look deeper at resistance or missing external feedback.

  • -1 to -3: Something is off. Either fear is clouding your judgment, or this path isn’t right.

  • -4 to -9: Strong misalignment. Reevaluate before moving forward.

Step 4: Take an Aligned Action

No matter your score, the next step is action. Even if you’re still uncertain, you gain clarity by moving.

  • If your score is high, take a committed step forward.

  • If your score is mid-range, adjust something small and retest in a few days.

  • If your score is low, step back and reflect before making a decision.

Alignment is real when it holds across all three layers. If something only feels good in your head but life is blocking you at every turn, it’s not alignment. If the universe is opening doors but your body is screaming no, it’s not alignment. And if something feels comfortable but repeats an old cycle, it’s definitely not alignment.
